Auto-flowering strains are relatively new, taking some of their genetics from ‘Cannabis Ruderalis’ (a very hardy form of cannabis that has its origins in central Russia), as well as genetics from the Sativa/Indica varieties. In order for Sativa/Indica strains to flower, they must be exposed to a 12 hour light cycle (as opposed to the 16+ hour light cycle needed for vegetative growth). Ruderalis strains flower automatically, regardless of the light cycle, after 2-4 weeks.
All of this effectively means that you can grow Autoflowering plants outdoors during the Summer season, without any worries of rot/Mould setting in to ruin your harvest, making them an excellent choice for beginner and expert alike.
The auto-flowering strains you will find below capture the best of both worlds; the high potency and variety of flavour that can only be found with Indica/Sativa strains, and the automatic flowering qualities of the Ruderalis strain.
