Apollo F1 Seeds by Royal Queen Seeds
Apollo F1 by Royal Queen Seeds is one of the original true F1 Hybrid Autos from the breeder’s modern genetics programme, combining three very different genetic families:
Lemon × Black Domina × Sugar Magnolia
Royal Queen Seeds developed highly inbred lines descending from these genetics before bringing them together in Apollo F1.
The result is a compact, vigorous automatic hybrid with very high THC, an XXL production classification and a surprisingly layered flavour profile built around citrus, herbs, lavender, pine and vanilla.
At SeedMasters.com, we think Apollo sits somewhere between old and new.
Black Domina brings some serious old-school Indica heritage into the background, while Lemon provides freshness and Sugar Magnolia adds something considerably less predictable.
Lemon, Black Domina and Sugar Magnolia
There’s plenty going on in Apollo’s family tree.
Lemon brings the obvious citrus influence.
Black Domina is the name that immediately caught our attention. It’s an established Indica with roots going back considerably further than most of the Cookies, Gelato and Runtz genetics filling today’s catalogues.
Then there’s Sugar Magnolia, adding another genetic family to the equation.
But it’s important not to describe Apollo as a simple three-way cross.
Royal Queen Seeds developed highly inbred parent lines descending from Lemon, Black Domina and Sugar Magnolia before producing the final F1 generation.
That breeding process is central to what Apollo F1 actually is.
Part of the Original RQS F1 Project
Apollo was among the early varieties used by Royal Queen Seeds to introduce its true F1 cannabis programme.
The concept is different from making a conventional polyhybrid and simply labelling the first cross F1.
RQS spent years developing highly uniform inbred parent lines before crossing them.
The resulting first generation is designed to display heterosis – better known as hybrid vigour – alongside increased uniformity.
That means the F1 label actually forms an important part of Apollo’s breeding story rather than simply being another part of the strain name.
For collectors interested in how modern cannabis breeding is changing, that’s one of the most interesting things about Apollo F1.
Citrus, Pine, Lavender and Dark Vanilla
Apollo has one of the more complex official flavour specifications in the RQS F1 range:
Citrus · Herbal · Lavender · Pine · Vanilla
The initial impression is fresh.
Royal Queen Seeds describes crisp pine and herbal notes alongside the sharper character of ripe citrus peel.
Then things get darker and sweeter.
Vanilla develops underneath, with a softer touch of lavender adding another layer.
It’s an unusual combination.
At SeedMasters.com, we’d describe Apollo as fresh citrus peel and pine over herbs, lavender and a darker vanilla background.
That’s quite different from the straightforward candy and fruit profiles attached to many current hybrids.
It also gives Apollo a personality of its own within the RQS F1 collection.
A Complex Terpene Mix
Royal Queen Seeds currently lists Apollo F1’s major terpenes as:
Caryophyllene · Farnesene · Myrcene · Terpinolene
The breeder’s more detailed description identifies an even broader aromatic mix, also discussing ocimene, limonene and linalool.
That helps explain why Apollo doesn’t fit neatly into a single flavour category.
There’s citrus.
There’s fresh pine.
There’s herbal spice.
There’s floral lavender.
And there’s vanilla underneath it all.
For us, this is one of those strains where the terpene profile is more interesting than simply looking at a THC figure.
Very High THC – Without an Invented Percentage
Royal Queen Seeds currently classifies Apollo F1’s THC content as:
Very High
It doesn’t give an exact numerical percentage.
We’d keep it that way on SeedMasters.com.
There’s no benefit in turning “very high” into an unofficial 25%, 30% or any other figure simply to make the product specification look more impressive.
RQS describes Apollo’s overall character as:
Calming · Creative · Motivating · Physically Relaxing
That combination reflects the balanced character Royal Queen Seeds repeatedly highlights when discussing Apollo.
As always, cannabinoid classifications and characteristics are breeder-supplied reference information rather than guaranteed results for every individual expression.
Compact Genetics with an XXL Rating
Apollo F1 is compact.
Royal Queen Seeds currently lists its height at approximately:
55–75cm
Despite those relatively small dimensions, the breeder gives Apollo an:
XXL production classification
Flowering takes approximately:
45–50 days
The complete cycle is listed at around:
75–80 days
It’s important to keep those two figures separate. The 45–50 day specification refers specifically to flowering, while 75–80 days is the breeder’s reference for the complete cycle.
RQS describes Apollo as having a compact Indica-style structure with dense, heavily resinous flowers.
For SeedMasters.com customers, these specifications are included purely as breeder-supplied information for identifying and comparing collectible cannabis genetics.
Heavy Resin and Dark-Green Flowers
Apollo’s appearance also fits its Black Domina-influenced background rather nicely.
Royal Queen Seeds describes a compact structure with thick, dark-green foliage and substantial flowers that develop a heavy layer of trichomes.
Resin is a recurring theme in RQS’s Apollo material.
By the end of its documented examples, the flowers become noticeably frosted, giving Apollo the sticky, crystal-heavy appearance associated with much of the breeder’s F1 collection.
The combination of compact dimensions, dense flowers and substantial resin gives Apollo quite a solid appearance compared with some of the more elongated F1 varieties.

Our Take on Apollo F1
Having worked through most of the Royal Queen Seeds F1 collection at SeedMasters.com, we’re starting to see where each variety fits.
Epsilon is about outright speed.
Titan sits at the ultra-high-THC end of the range.
Cosmos takes the project towards CBD.
Atlas goes for a balanced 1:1 cannabinoid profile.
Apollo is one we’d pick for the genetics and terpenes.
Lemon and Black Domina already make an interesting combination. Add Sugar Magnolia and the family tree becomes considerably less predictable.
Then you’ve got the flavour.
Citrus. Pine. Herbs. Lavender. Vanilla.
There’s a lot happening there without Apollo turning into another candy-shop strain.
We particularly like the contrast between the fresh citrus-and-pine side and the darker vanilla underneath.
And while Royal Queen Seeds classifies THC as very high, we’re happy leaving it there. There’s no need to invent a percentage the breeder doesn’t publish.
For us, Apollo F1 is another good example of why the original RQS F1 collection works better when you look beyond the headline specifications.
The 55–75cm height, XXL production classification and 75–80 day overall cycle tell you part of the story.
But it’s the combination of Black Domina heritage, true F1 breeding and that unusual citrus-pine-lavender-vanilla profile that gives Apollo its own identity.
That’s what we’d concentrate on at SeedMasters.com.
