Iced Grapefruit by Female Seeds: Genetics and Background
Iced Grapefruit by Female Seeds is a feminized, sativa-dominant hybrid created from Grapefruit x ICE genetics. For collectors searching specifically for Iced Grapefruit Female Seeds, this is one of the breeder’s longer-running releases and a strain with a clear place in the history of its catalogue.
Female Seeds traces the cross back to 2004, when breeder Ferry combined its Grapefruit and ICE lines. The finished strain was released in 2005 and has remained closely associated with Female Seeds ever since.
The Grapefruit parent brings the brighter fruit and sativa influence, while ICE adds a heavier, darker character to the genetic background.
Iced Grapefruit Flavour, Aroma and Character
The flavour profile is where the two parents really come together.
Female Seeds describes Iced Grapefruit as having a sweet, deep pink grapefruit flavour, with a hint of banana and an earthy undertone. The aroma mixes fresh grapefruit with a darker black-hash style scent.
That gives the strain much more depth than the name might suggest.
The grapefruit side is sharp, fruity and slightly tangy, while the earthy and hash-like notes from the ICE genetics add a richer background. The small banana-like sweetness gives the profile another interesting twist.
We particularly like that contrast. It feels fruity without becoming another modern candy-style strain.
What Makes the Female Seeds Version Different?
Iced Grapefruit is very much a breeder-specific release.
Female Seeds created it directly from its own Grapefruit and ICE lines, rather than using the name for a later reinterpretation. The breeder also describes two main expressions within the strain: one leaning slightly more indica and resin-heavy, and another showing a taller, more sativa-like character.
That variation adds some extra collector interest and gives the strain a little more history than many newer hybrids.
Our Take on Iced Grapefruit by Female Seeds
At SeedMasters.com, we think Iced Grapefruit is one of the more interesting older releases in the Female Seeds collection.
The Grapefruit x ICE lineage is straightforward, but the combination of sweet pink grapefruit, banana, earth and hash gives the strain a distinctive personality.
We also like that this isn’t another Cookies, Gelato or candy-based hybrid. Its genetics and flavour profile come from a different period of cannabis breeding, which helps it stand apart today.
For collectors interested in classic Female Seeds genetics, fruit-led sativa hybrids and strains with a genuine breeder history behind them, Iced Grapefruit is certainly one worth considering.
