Purple Punch OG by Sweet Seeds
Purple Punch OG cannabis seeds by Sweet Seeds combine two heavyweight American genetic lines in a feminized photoperiod variety built around dense resinous flowers, sweet fruit and a much spicier OG Kush background than the name initially suggests.
The cross brings together Purple Punch and Star Killer. Sweet Seeds uses an elite Purple Punch clone descended from Larry OG and Grand Daddy Purple, together with Star Killer genetics derived from Skywalker OG Kush and Rare Dankness #2. The finished variety is listed as approximately 80% Indica and 20% Sativa.
At SeedMasters.com, we think the Star Killer side is what makes this particularly interesting. Purple Punch already has a well-established reputation for sweet fruit and dark purple character, but the extra OG genetics give Purple Punch OG considerably more spice, earth and depth.
Purple Punch Meets Star Killer
There is quite a bit of recognised American genetics packed into this cross.
Purple Punch contributes the sweeter side, with Larry OG adding some classic OG weight while Grand Daddy Purple brings the dark fruit influence and potential for purple or reddish colouring.
Star Killer pushes things in a heavier direction.
Its Skywalker OG Kush and Rare Dankness #2 background adds another layer of pungent, earthy and spicy character, creating something more substantial than a straightforward Purple Punch selection.
That combination also explains why Sweet Seeds describes Purple Punch OG as strongly Indica dominant.
The breeder lists the indoor flowering period at around eight weeks, with a compact structure, a prominent main flower and robust side branches. Sweet Seeds also notes that some examples can develop purple or reddish shades across the flowers and leaves thanks to the Grand Daddy Purple ancestry.
Sweet Fruit, Lemon and Spicy OG Kush
The terpene profile is where the two sides of the genetics really come together.
Sweet Seeds describes Purple Punch OG as sweet and fruity, but those flavours sit alongside much stronger spicy OG Kush notes and fresh lemon.
We would expect the main profile to revolve around:
Sweet ripe fruit
Dark berry-like notes
Fresh lemon
Earth
Warm spice
Pungent OG Kush
For us, the spice is important.
Without it, Purple Punch OG could easily become another soft, sweet purple strain. The OG Kush background gives the fruit more weight and leaves a much stronger, earthier finish.
It also makes the name quite accurate. This still has the recognisable Purple Punch sweetness, but there is considerably more OG character running underneath it.
Frost, Resin and Purple Colour
Sweet Seeds places a lot of emphasis on resin production with Purple Punch OG.
The breeder describes dense flowers covered in abundant aromatic resin and specifically highlights the strain’s very high terpene production.
Visually, the Grand Daddy Purple influence can also make itself known.
Some examples develop purple or reddish tones, creating a striking contrast against the thick resin coating. Not every seed can be expected to express exactly the same colours, but the potential is clearly part of the genetic character Sweet Seeds associates with the strain.
The combination of dense flowers, heavy frost and occasional dark colouring gives Purple Punch OG exactly the sort of appearance its pedigree suggests.
Strong and Deeply Relaxing
Sweet Seeds lists Purple Punch OG at 18–22% THC and describes its effect as intense and relaxing, with happiness also forming part of the overall character.
That makes sense for an 80% Indica hybrid with this much OG Kush influence behind it.
Rather than being presented as an energetic or particularly cerebral strain, Purple Punch OG leans towards a heavier, calmer personality.

Our Take on Purple Punch OG
At SeedMasters.com, Purple Punch OG makes more sense to us once you look beyond the Purple Punch name.
The sweet fruit and potential purple colours are certainly part of the attraction, but it is the Star Killer influence that gives the strain its personality.
There is a lot of OG genetics buried in this pedigree—Larry OG on one side and Skywalker OG Kush on the other—and you can see that reflected in the spicy, earthy character Sweet Seeds describes.
That gives Purple Punch OG a much stronger foundation than another purely fruit-led purple hybrid.
We also like the relatively straightforward flavour description. Sweet fruit, lemon, spice and OG Kush tells you far more than an exaggerated list of ten different desserts.
For collectors browsing the SeedMasters.com Sweet Seeds range for heavily Indica-dominant American genetics, Purple Punch OG is an easy one to understand: familiar Purple Punch sweetness, serious OG influence and plenty of resin.
