Northern Lights by Barney’s Farm
Northern Lights is one of the most legendary indica strains developed. This pure indica hybrid incorporates the best qualities of Thai and Afghan genetics and delivers everything that one expects from a classic strain. This strain is perfect for growers regardless of their level of experience and type of growing facilities. Whether you cultivate marijuana for personal use or want to grow commercial batches, Northern Lights will not disappoint you with its yield and consistency.
This strain can reach THC content up to 26%. Effects of Northern Lights are not intense at the beginning but gradually intensify as they take place. First, one experiences uplifting euphoria and then relaxation. Northern Lights is best for evening sessions. It helps switch off after a busy day, relax, and prepare for bed. However, it does not make one too lazy – one can do chores after smoking this strain.
Northern Lights has typical indica visual characteristics. It has a small bushy structure with thick lateral branches. Buds are compact conical-shaped structures covered with thick layers of trichomes. If you harvest in cooler environments, you may notice some purple shades in buds. Besides, resin content causes frosting which adds another attractive element to buds.
Terpenes of this strain have classic cannabis aromas. Earthy scents dominate the bouquet, and they are complemented by herbal notes and fresh pine scents. In addition, some spice elements develop when buds are cured, creating a unique aroma profile recognizable by experienced cannabis users.
Taste of Northern Lights is consistent with its aromatic profile. One can feel sweet citrus flavors first, followed by earthy tones and fresh pine. Overall, the flavor profile is balanced, which makes it popular for generations.
Northern Lights is a favorite among indoor growers due to its height, flowering period, and resistance to cultivation issues. Bushes are relatively small and can be grown in tents or other limited facilities. At the same time, Northern Lights delivers impressive yields – up to 550 grams per square meter of space. In outdoor settings, bushes grow up to 150-200 centimeters and deliver up to 750 grams of buds per plant.
On average, this strain takes five weeks to flower in indoor conditions. Therefore, you can harvest quickly. For outdoor plants, you can expect to harvest bushes in the middle of September. Thus, Northern Lights is a reliable option for growing cannabis.
This strain is extremely flexible in terms of using training techniques. For example, LST training promotes better lighting exposure to multiple bud sites. Topping, fimming, and supercropping stimulate more branching, allowing growers to maximize production. ScrOG setups suit Northern Lights because of its bushy structure. Growers can maximize canopy area in indoor settings. Moreover, pruning and defoliation promote better ventilation around buds.
Overall, Northern Lights is a reliable strain for growing cannabis. It has an appealing flavor profile and a balanced effect profile. In addition, it grows relatively fast, so one can harvest bushes quickly.
